TEXTURED ACRYLIC PAINTING

This workshop is an introduction to Diane Dean’s loose and somewhat abstract acrylic painting process, beginning with applying textures with heavy gesso on the canvas surface, followed by a variety of painting techniques to paint layers adding even more texture. You will receive a pre-gessoed canvas board at the start of the workshop so you can experiment and get the feel of working with acrylics on both a smooth and textured surface with brushes and palette knives. You will learn to apply this technique using landscapes and still life.

Mixed media is a broad, all-encompassing art form. Instructor, Diane Dean, will take the mystery out of mixed media and help you get started. This workshop will introduce you to the world of mixed media and collage art. Students will work with a variety of papers, fabrics and found objects to
create unique, personal works. Old books, maps, photos, letters, and textured object will be used. You’ll learn how to lay out a mixed media/collage piece. Techniques for adding details and embellishments usingpaints, colored markers and graphite will also be covered. You will learn
which materials work well together and get lots of tips you can use when creating pieces in the future.
